The Truth is Out Where?

So I heard this story on NPR the other morning, and it got me thinking about careers.
Apparently more than 120,000 people applied for the CIA last year.

When I was in high school, I actually thought about joining the CIA. I had dreams of becoming the next greatest female spy. I think this was brought on by Robert Ludlam books, and that movie True Lies.
But of course, in high school, without the ‘internet’ (which I didn’t know what it even was, let alone how to use it) I had no idea how one would even get IN to the CIA. I thought they came to you! I thought it was like La Femme Nikita (the French version, not the USA Original Series version) where they picked you up off the street.
So my quest was somewhat crushed by this road block. Until my World History teacher, Mr. Snelling, mentioned that if I was serious about joining the CIA, he knew some ‘people’. He could ‘get me in’ so to speak.

Well. I thought that was the greatest thing since sliced bread, until I realized that I wanted to pursue my dreams as a professional ballet dancer and ceramics major in college. WOW.

After I failed out of my first year of college (largely due to beer – partially due to the Adonis that was in my Western Civilizations class – dammit! He deserved to be stared at!), I found out that you could actually get a degree in Landscaping. So I packed my crap and moved to Colorado to pursue my new dream: getting away from The Evil (my ex-boyfriend who stepped on my heart and mutilated it for 3 years). As I studied landscape horticulture, I started wondering if I should chuck it all, go back to KC and become an FBI agent. They have a bureau there, and I even had a girlfriend in high school whose dad was an agent! I thought that would be ALMOST like being a CIA agent! I didn’t really decide that this was the best route to go until I started watching X-Files. Dude, I could TOTALLY be Fox Mulder! I mean, C’MON!!! I was just as full of conspiracies and porn addiction as he was!!!! Okay, not the porn part – but I thought boys were cute.
Hemingway – listening to this article on NPR got me thinking about joining the CIA or FBI again. Do you think they would hire an agent who is fresh out of the Peace Corps and in her 30s before she even starts the training?

Hmmmm…….Just think, I may be the next Agent Starling who has a serial killer obsessed with her……
Cool.

Well - I've Moved!

Yes Friends! I have moved! i will post pictures of my new abode, as soon a Josh takes some.

So Josh and I finally decided to bite the bullet, and rent a house. No more apartments for US!!! We are movin' on up (or more like - over) to the Cherry Creek area. We have officially left Capitol Hill (thank GAWD). Our cute little house is located on 4th and Ogden, which is right near a park, a deli, and a Safeway. Our neighbor came over on the weekend (we were at the apartment cleaning) to introduce herself, and bring us lemon squares! (which weren't very good - but i ate them anyway).

My new surroundings are strange and unusual.
Here is how i've noticed we are out of Capitol Hill:

1. Everyone owns not only a dog, but a boxer.
2. It is really quiet except when an 'urban' mom drives her SUV down the street at 90 mph (i think she is late taking her kid to soccer practice)
3. We actually have 'trash day' (i haven't had one of those since living in suburbia in MO)
4. The deli behind us serves sandwiches for $8.00 and bagels for $3.50. WOW.
5. The local liquor store closes at 10 pm, and there are no hobos standing around waiting to take a swig
6. Everyone looks clean
7. The grocery store is actually used for grocery shopping, instead of socializing (unlike Queen Soopers)
8. No one drives around and around the park wearing pink mesh shirts and daisy dukes, while their balls fall out of the bottom.
9. I have yet to see someone walk down the street and pee in some random bushes
10. For the first time in my life, i have felt compelled to purchase avocados.

Well, there you have it. I will continue to add to my list of differences as i experience them. i will just somehow have to get used to this strange new 'world' of living south of sixth, and west of Cherry Creek.

The Time Space Continuum is Cracking up! Just like when old Biff hit young Biff on the Head with his cane!

In reference to this post, Here’s a pickle for you:
So if Doc went back to the old west in Back to the Future 2 - where at the end of the movie when Doc writes a letter to Marty - in the beginning of Back to the Future 3 - he reads the letter to Doc of 1955. So - after the events at the beginning of BTTF3 - did Doc of 1985 who was now living in 1885 know that he was going to end up in the Old West since 1955?
What do you think?

New Blog

So i must now share with you Josh's new blog. You can read if you want, and link to it if there be activity! ARrrGG! and some really fun photos.

http://joshintosh.blogspot.com/

heh heh heh.....i love this photo!

Okay, last time....

I won't talk about the t-shirt ideas ANY MORE after this, but i just have to say, that I came up with this shirt YEARS ago at some bar with assorted bar fly. Dammit...I could be rich by now - AT the bar raking in the dough, thinking about MORE shirts!

(from Josh's work):
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
* Now and Zen is regularly looking for slogans and designs in the following categories: Young Men's, Boys 8-20, Boys 4-7, Infants and Toddler Boys (ITB), Juniors, Girls, Infants and Toddler Girls (ITG), Activewear (Sports), and Holiday (Christmas, Valentine's Day, St. Paddy's Day, Independence Day, Halloween). We are always looking for ideas in these categories throughout the year.

* If you're want your ideas to be taken seriously, they must be seriously viable ideas. Just as everyone has a screenplay, everyone has an idea they think would make a great tee shirt ("All my friends think this would sell like mad!"). Unfortunately it doesn't usually turn out that way. If you're a trend hound and you already think you know the market, great. If you aren't, please spend time at department stores and at the mall studying what's out there before swearing your idea will make us millions.

Please edit your submissions with a heavy hand and a sharp knife. Really consider what you're sending in after your brainstorm to make sure it's the best in that round. Consider whether you could actually see every slogan as a shirt on the wall of Target or Hot Topic and the like. See whether your ideas make others laugh, or at least elicit compliments over their cleverness. If we receive large lists of mostly unviable ideas from any one writer, we have to throw out the baby with the bathwater; the potential needle in the haystack doesn't justify combing through. (Sorry for mixing metaphors.) This means you should not send umpteen variations on a theme. If you have a handful of ways of stating an idea, pick the best one. If it needs a slight rewrite, we'll figure it out.

wow. that's not an iBook....

This is a picture Josh sent me from a 1954 Popular Mechanics Magazine.

The caption reads:
Scientist from the RAND Corporation have created this model to illustrate how a “Home Computer” could look like in the year 2004. However, the needed technology will not be economically feasible for the average home. Also the scientists readily admit that the computer will require not yet invented technology to actually work, but 50 years from now scientific progress is expected to solve these problems. With teletype interface and the Fortran language, the computer will be easy to use.

Results.....

Talk about lazy!
these are just a FEW of the dumb ideas people came up with from the last brain storm at Josh's work! We could've TOTALLY come up with better ideas than these!

So maybe next time when i call for ideas so we can get rich and have a bloggy convention in Hawaii, you'll be more apt to come up with something!!!! Think about how everytime you see a dumb shirt like this, someone else will be making moolah off of them!

That's IT! I'm quitting my job to brain storm so i can get rich quick off the t-shirt industry! The general public apparently will buy ANYTHING!

Free my Willie!

Paul sent me this new article from Yahoo.....

Willie Nelson Releases Gay Cowboy Song
Wed Feb 15, 5:14 PM ET
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Country music outlaw Willie Nelson sang "Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys" and "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys" more than 25 years ago. He released a very different sort of cowboy anthem this Valentine's Day"
"Cowboys Are Frequently, Secretly (Fond of Each Other)" may be the first gay cowboy song by a major recording artist. But it was written long before this year's Oscar-nominated "Brokeback Mountain" made gay cowboys a hot topic.
Available exclusively through iTunes, the song features choppy Tex-Mex style guitar runs and Nelson's deadpan delivery of lines like, "What did you think all them saddles and boots was about?" and "Inside every cowboy there's a lady who'd love to slip out."
The song, which debuted Tuesday on Howard Stern's satellite radio show, was written by Texas-born singer-songwriter Ned Sublette in 1981. Sublette said he wrote it during the "Urban Cowboy" craze and always imagined Nelson singing it.
Someone passed a copy of the song to Nelson back in the late 1980s and, according to Nelson's record label, Lost Highway, he recorded it last year at his Pedernales studio in Texas.
Nelson has appeared in several Western movies and sings "He Was a Friend of Mine" on the "Brokeback Mountain" soundtrack.

my sweetie the sweetest!!!

My sweetie sure knows how to melt my heart! Just look at the most beautiful Valentine i've ever gotten!

Awww...shucks! Isn't he romantic?

V-Day

While i typically do not celebrate Valentine's Day, this year I thought about celebrating in a different way. Josh and I decided to celebrate a different kind of V-Day by seeing the Vagina Monologues. They rawked. Any woman out there should see them if you get a chance.

If you're a boy - go with your woman because you want to 'understand her better'.

Trust me, you will reap the benefits.

Incase you don't know what i'm talking about, or would like to learn more about it, i have a few sites you can visit!

http://www.vday.org/main.html

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Vagina_Monologues

V-Day
The Vagina Monologues are the
cornerstone of the V-Day movement, whose participants stage benefit performances of the show worldwide each Valentine's Day. The "V" in V-Day stands for Valentine, Vagina and Violence, linking love and respect for women to ending violence against women and girls. The proceeds from these performances go to programs that assist victims of domestic violence.

Celebrate your Vagina!!!!

Reflecting.....

I saw a hip young girl walking downtown the other day, who was totally 80s-out.
Her outfit was remarkable, and must've taken her time and money to put it together. it reminded me that she probably didn't really grow up to remember when those items were actually COOL.

When i was young, i got hand-me-downs from this wealthier, 'more popular' family in school. I absolutely loved the clothes, since to me, they were really stylish and almost new. My mom never really bought us any of the name brand stuff - so getting anything that said Guess or Ocean Pacific was really cool - even if it was from some snobby sisters who used to pick on me.

But i remeber loving these 3 ruffled western shirts, and a pair of Calvin Klein pin stripped jeans in 2nd grade. I was in heaven! I remember opening the full trash bag my mom gave me and couldn't WAIT to wear them to school, to show off how stylish i was!

And of course, i was ridiculed by both sisters who commented to EVERYONE when they saw me that I was wearing THEIR hand-me-downs. I remember trying to avoid them in school. i remember it was a good day when we didn't have recess or lunch at the same time. And i purposefully DID NOT play at the tennis courts in the mornings while trying to avoid those sisters.

But i perservered. I didn't die of shame like i thought would happen. I didn't love the clothes any less because they had come from some rich girl's closet.
Do I have any retalliation for what those sisters did to me?
No.
I have the memory of those shirts.
I also remember wearing one of those shirts to a Girl Scout meeting. We were putting together a time capsule and ALL the girls scouts got together to take a picture for it - which meant those snotty sisters were there too. But i just kept thinking, as we took the photo - that no one would remember whose shirt it was originally, and when they opened the time capsule in 2035 - everyone would think i was wearing just MY shirt.

Post Lazy.....

Heaven.....I'm in Heaven!

So i don't quite remember what brought me to this page, but i'm sure glad i've found it! it gives me hope! It makes me smile! It makes me think, "WOW. There's so much more of life out there than i ever thought possible!!!"

What the heck am i talking about?

Well, as you all know, i've always wanted to travel. I've only been to Europe once, and really really miss it! I've always wanted to do new things with my life and go new places! i've always been so jealous of my friends who have saved their money and spend time in other countries just volunteering!

So the one way that i thought about doing these things, plus really building a life 'resume' is to join the Peace Corps! But after that, i really wondered what i would after ward. Could i really pack up my bags from the Corps and go back to Corporate America? Well, my friend Paul told me about a few resources to check out, when i came upon this site:

http://www.escapeartist.com/

What a great resource to check out international jobs! I can't wait to start getting the newsletter! For some reason, it makes me feel that I'm not the only one who longs to do something different with their life!
The other good thing about this site, is that the jobs posted are not necessarily meant for 20 somethings! You can be ANY age to do them! i like the sound of that. i could choose to apply no matter HOW long i've been living at my mom's house!

Everybody Wants Some

I was just rolling the thought around in my head, that i felt really crappy today. i think i ate an entire cow over the weekend (yeah, Amber - AN ENTIRE COW!).

So i was feeling quite porky while working out at my gym on my lunch. I looked in the mirror and thought i should be wearing that weird hat Lane Meyer was wearing in Better Off Dead. I thought about posting a picture of it, when i came across this site.

I feel this individual has way too much time on their hands, and an unhealthy obsessions with this wonderful 80's movie.

Anyway, check it out. There are some fun stills. His other site is pretty obsessive as well.

I was just about to say that!

So folks, again another posting begging you to come up with some great ideas so we can get rich!
This time:
Halloween

Midnight Thursday (2/9) is the final call for Halloween submissions, please. This program, if we get it, is estimated between 500,000 and 750,000 shirts. The royalty will be a bit reduced as we're having to drop the selling price considerably, but it will still be a very nice chunk for the writer(s) responsible. Thank you again for your submissions.

I know for a FACT this will be a lot easier to come up with some good ideas! Especially since Halloween is the best holiday evar!!!! i even remember A-ron wearing an orange t-shirt that used to say, "This IS my Halloween Costume!" Just think about how rich THAT guy is!!!! What about the tuxedo shirt? That guy is probably ROLLING in the dough!
C'mon!!!
Let's get some ideas rolling before Thursday night, so we can get rich off of Josh's company - as well as Target!!!!

Why do I come to work hungover?

I am old, people. Why do I insist on going to the bar during the work week, only to get up early the next day and feel like shit?

I don’t want to talk to anyone. I can’t concentrate on work. I feel like azz, and I SHOULD be hydrating myself with water, but nothing tastes as good as a Dr. Pepper! On top of everything else, I have an uncontrollable urge to go get Taco Bell.

???

Taco Bell is for AFTER I leave the bar! Not for DURING the work day! Geez!!! I really feel like eating a Crunch Wrap – even though normally they repulse me.

I have been sooper busy with work, which is why I haven’t posted lately –
But for some reason, this morning I feel like I can put aside childish ideas that I NEED to get this stuff done, and write on my blog.
I mean, I gotta be true to you guys, too – right?

So. Meh.
I don’t want to write anymore.
Here are some quizzes about hangovers:

Cheerz

***** You are a Five Star Hangover
You are incomprehesable, which doesn't matter anyway because you can't hear anyone's conversation over the pounding of your own head. it feels like Noah has set the Arc loose in your stomach, and it takes all the energy you posess to maintain breathing. You stare blankly from your bloodshot eyes as you promise God never to drink again and plead with him to bring you death.

What type of Hangover are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

I am the "I'll NEVER drink again" type.

Sure you wont. Wanna go have a beer? Sure you

do.

Whats your hangover personality?
brought to you by Quizilla

Here’s some trivia about hangovers (there's a LOT of it)

Hangover
A hangover is characterized by the combination of unpleasant physical and mental symptoms that occur after a bout of heavy alcohol drinking .

Physical symptoms include fatigue, headache, increased sensitivity to light and sound, redness of the eyes, muscle aches, thirst, shaking, and sweating.

Mental symptoms include dizziness, a sense of the room spinning and possible mental disorientation and mood swings (depression, anxiety, and irritability).

Experience of hangover intensity depends on personal characteristics of the drinker, the type of alcoholic beverage consumed and the amount a person drinks.

Typically, a hangover begins within several hours after the cessation of drinking, when a person's blood alcohol concentration (BAC) is falling. Symptoms usually peak about the time BAC is zero and may continue for up to 24 hours thereafter.

Hangover symptoms are LESS likely to occur, if a person drinks only small, nonintoxicating amounts with a low alcohol content.

People experiencing a hangover feel ill and unable to perform tasks adequately (e.g. car driving). As a result, their risk of injury increase.

Hangover trivia

A hangover consists of dehydration (body needs more water), malnutrition (body lacks nutrients) and withdrawal (body is trying to cope without alcohol).

After a night of drinking, stomach can not absorb nutrients it needs, therefore eating after drinking does not provide body with nutrients.

Time is the most important component. Cold shower or a cup of coffee might wake you up a bit, but will not decrease the hangover.

Hangover symptoms usually disappear over 8 to 24 hours. So have plenty of rest and wait it out.

Hangover Prevention Techniques
Hangover symptoms are LESS likely to occur, if a person drinks only small, nonintoxicating amounts with a low alcohol content.

Eat a good meal an hour prior to drinking.

After drinking, drink at least 2 glasses of water before bed (to avoid dehydration) and, when you wake up through the night to pee, drink 1 more glass of water

Eat some fruit (banana) or fruit juice before bed so to decrease hangover intensity. Also, bland foods, such as toast or crackers, can possibly relieve nausea.

Antacids may decrease nausea and inflammation of stomach. DO NOT USE Tylenol, Aspirin and Ibuprofen to reduce the headache and muscle aches since they cause damage to liver, especially if nausea or upper abdominal pain is present

Readministration of small alcohol amount may decrease a hangover, but further alcohol use should be avoided, so not to enhance the existing toxicity by the alcohol.

Babies in Movies

No no. You might be thinking that I’m talking about what makes a good family comedy other than a chimpanzee – sadly, no. I’m talking about bringing babies to movies.

Last night I went to go see Underworld Part Deux. This will NOT be a movie review –so don’t worry. This movie was too average to have a review other than the fact that I thought it was NOT a family film. But apparently those in the audience of the 5:30 matinee at the United Artists Denver Pavilions did not share the same view.

My opinion why this movie was not suitable for children under 8 – which all kids present were well under 8 years old:
1. It was rated R
2. There were tons of people getting killed either by sucking of blood, decapitation, guns, and the ripping of jaws off (which is why I’m convinced it got the rating of R)
3. There was a hot sex scene which showed pretty much everything except parts. Let’s just say – it didn’t leave much for interpretation (this MIGHT be covered in the R rating, but I’ll have to check)
4. The language was proper for an R rated movie, meaning that there were a lot of f-bombs
5. Excessive use of titties and blood. Now, I know I covered this above, but I would like to add that there were titties, blood, people turning into werewolves and people eating other people. Why do I mention this again? Cause this is what makes a good horror movies. I know I know, “But Cassie, you love zombies, dammit!” Tis true. But I also love horror movies as a whole, and this had a whole lotta horror – which could possibly be a reason why it was deemed a rating of “Not suitable for Children without Parent Supervision”.

So if I might sum up:
This movie was not acceptable for children who are still grappling with the concept of ‘is this movie real’ and ‘Dad, what is trick photography’ (heh heh heh – I love that term). I just don’t think the Rating System really had in mind that you could bring babies to the theatres who were crying the whole time because they were so freaked out by a scary movie. Are we TRYING to raise sociopaths?
Okay, so that MIGHT be a little over the top –
But am I crazy here?
I remember babysitting when I was 13 years old going to see Ghostbusters 2 – and all 4 of my young charges were scared shitless at Vigo popping out of that painting! We unfortunately had to leave the theatre (which, at the time sucked cause I thought that was a GREAT movie) because they were so scared!
So why would someone take kids who were around the same age to a terrible film like Underworld 2?

I understand if people can’t get a sitter – but if you have to bring your kids along to a movie, why not go to a kids movie? Or even a comedy or PG love story? And why weren’t they taking their kids OUT of the theatre when they started crying? Cause they didn’t want to miss out when that vampire got blown to smithereens when the bomb detonated? Geez!!!!
I think they need to start making signs to follow “Please turn off your cell phones” that say “if you were dumb enough to bring your baby to this rated R film, please take him out of the theatre when he starts crying so he’ll only have nightmares for 1 week, instead of 3!”
I some of you have kids, nieces and nephews. Would you take your children to these types of movies when they were that young? Or even now? What do you think about this new trend? Do you think there is some validity to the belief that violence on the TV and movies leads to maladjusted adults? Could we be contributing by allowing our kids to see these movies before they are mature enough? SOMEONE GIVE ME THE ANSWER!!!!!

Emerson, Lake, and Campbell

So I was remembering this funny page in my Wayne's World Extreme Closeup book from 1992 where they talked about this album from Emerson Lake and Palmer. They decided to put a myriad of pictures of people in the place of 'Palmer'. So i thought - what a great idea! Why not i do my OWN version of Emerson, Lake and Palmer Wayne's World style, but actually CASSIE style. So i was really lucky to find this funny picture of Star Trek and i thought, what better way to customize this thing, than by putting in my blogger friends' pictures as well! So here is what I want! Send me any pics of yourself to my email and we can create a beautiful gallery of Spock, Blank, Bones, and Scotty. I think it will be a wonderous project in which we will go down in history as the BEST crew of the USS Enterprise!

Thanks, Josh! The photo looks AWESOME!!!!!

Ode To Dad

I'm not really going to write an 'Ode' so to speak, but i really liked this picture of me, my brother, and my dad.

Did you know that he is the strongest dad in the world?

and did you know that my dad could probably beat your dad up?
Uh, huh!

actually, i gave some framed photos to my dad for christmas this year, and this was one of them! What was really fun, was that Josh does graphic design for Creative Music Works, and makes posters for them - for upcoming jazz shows (as well as their website! isn't he TALENTED!!!).

I thought it was pretty cool that he put this picture on his poster. He said he 'likes the 70s feel of it'.
I must say, i liked it too! So did my dad!

You can't really see the photo that well, which is the point (i guess). I think they should've done a close up of that adorable little girl in the picture. I mean, she's fabulous! I bet she'll grow up to be a MODEL!!!!

Um.....or LANDSCAPER!!!!

i knew it!

Jean-Luc Picard

Which Fantasy/SciFi Character Are You?

An accomplished diplomat who can virtually do no wrong, you sometimes know it is best to rely on the council of others while holding the reins.

There are some words which I have known since I was a schoolboy. "With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censored, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably." These words were uttered by Judge Aaron Satie -- as a wisdom, and warning. The first time any man's freedom is trodden on, we're all damaged.

Jean-Luc is a character in the Star Trek universe. This The Next Generation fan site has an outline of his career.

Think! Damn you, THINK!!!!!

Well my talented bloggy friends! I have a challenge for you!!! Are you prepared to accept this challenge? As per my post about Josh’s job, occasionally they need ideas for t-shirts. We could make up to .10 per t-shirt if our idea is accepted. So say Target purchases 50,000 shirts, we make an easy $5000 which would be used to bring us all together for a BLOG Convention in a random city for a weekend! What do you say?
Here is the attached email Josh sent me:

hey folks,
Libi asked if we could come up with a few girls slogans in the categories that she mentions below. Think back to school theme. We need these in the next couple of days. Monday/Tuesday at the latest.
School bashing themes preferably.

I only go to school to hang out with my friends
Is it summer yet
Most likely to......
My favorite subject is recess

So that’s the challenge. Are you up to it? Maybe ask your kids, or get input from co-workers! We could make some bank on this, people!!!
Ready?
Engage!

Mi Boca es muy GRANDE!!!!

I never knew my mouth was so big!
i mean, i KNOW i have a big mouth, but i haven't seen it in action!!
WHEW!!!

This is a photo one of the waitresses at Gabor's took of me. I can't tell when it was, but Ed was there!
He looks alarmed!
Like, "Um, excuse me? Whachew talkin' bout, Willis?"
You know. That look.
Or maybe he's just thinking, "What is she taking a picture of Cassie's big mouth for?"
Don't know. But he looks like he was praying before the photo.

Hemingway -
I wonder about something.

I wonder if i can put my whole fist in my mouth if i practiced....

Breaking Away = Cassie the Cutter

Well, the votes are in.
I have now retained my own personal bike trainer.
She is gonna kick my azz into gear to get ready for some hard core bike riding this summer.

I went up to FOCO for the weekend to hang out at Ed’s place with The Gang (all of whom have already seen Brokeback Mountain…..grrr….) and sat in the kitchen sipping coffee with a caramel in it (I got it out of one of those chocolate boxes – I ALWAYS pick the caramels, and I REALLY want the pure chocolate ones, since caramels anger me – too chewy) talking with Rhiannon about her brother. Apparently her brother races on a regular basis and currently just road some race out in Boulder. I expressed to her that I would like to utilize the bike I bought last year, and really get into biking, following the path of my mom, step dad, and apparently my dad, too! She was really excited. She bikes as well, but I think she does it alone. Her brother, I believe, lives in Carbondale, so not much interaction with him. She jumped all over the chance to help me get into biking shape for the summer. I think I fell off the wagon last year, cause I didn’t have anyone else biking with me, which = Cassie Lost Motivation. So THIS year, I will have a trainer to kick my azz into gear! I will also be able to drive up to FOCO with my bike to go on training rides with her, NOT in the city – which would be awesome!!!

So, as Petunia was talking about goals, I have set up a few short term goals of my own, which may or may not involve ice cubes, and pitching wedge, and a buffalo –

1. get my azz in gear and start training on my bike
2. do small training rides all summer with Rhiannon
3. do a few local rides like the Elephant Rock ride in June
4. do the MS150 in Kansas City with my mom.

I am trying to talk Rhiannon into doing this ride as well. I want to ride this with my mom, too, while raising money for my dad! I TRIED to get Josh excited about it, but he says he doesn’t want the bother of raising money. I guess I understand, since he’d be riding his cruiser. But I think it would be fun no matter what. My stepdad agreed to set up camp for us during the ride, so we don't have to! How fun is that?

So wish me luck! i have my first meeting with my own personal tomorrow night. She says she's even going to do BODY measurements!!!!

At least SOMEONE got it right!

Please read this awesome article about how singletons are viewed in movies.
I find this enlightening that someone noticed, other than me!

Modern gal: frustrated and dated
Terrorised or teased, single women on film are cast in a narrow stereotype, writes Wesley Morris.

American movies do right by a lot of things - war, westerns, young women running for their lives. The lives of single people, meanwhile, are a different story.

Bridget Jones, she of the stammering, self-doubt and face-first collapses, is what passes for a sophisticated representation of being single: the bachelorette as Jerry Lewis.

Bridget, now at The Edge of Reason, is the natural byproduct of a medium that's never quite known what to do with unmarried characters other than marry them off. Or kill them.

In 1977, when Diane Keaton went Looking for Mr Goodbar, the search ended in blood. And Julianne Moore, the ambitious and nosy friend in The Hand that Rocks the Cradle, died a grisly death as she closed in on Rebecca De Mornay's plot to conquer a suburban household. So if Bridget Jones doesn't have a husband and she's not dead, then there's only one place for her to go: crazy.

Given Up

i was recently talking with Kurt about which movie to go see (we still haven't decided) when it came up that i was lying on the couch. He replied that he was lying on his couch as well, protecting his winter fat.
In response to this, i mentioned that i had gotten so fat this winter, my pants didn't fit anymore. i told him that i had decided to start buying those old lady pants that have the elastic waste bands.
Kurt then asked, "Why don't you just give up, and wear sweat pants?"

i laughed so hard remembering this Seinfeld Episode, i had to talk about it!!!!

JERRY: (to George) Again with the sweat pants?

GEORGE: What? I'm comfortable.

JERRY: You know the message you're sending out to the world with these sweat pants? You're telling the world: "I give up. I can't compete in normal society. I'm miserable, so I might as well be comfortable." (George is baffled)

But seriously. I'm sure everyone has seen that episode. Why do people still wear sweat pants around instead of regular pants? And why do they still wear that crappy gray jersey color?
I've seen now with girls - they buy sweat suits made of pink velour and wear them all over the place. Do you know what following this new trend is leading to? They will be those grannies that buy matching nylon sweat suits! my granny had a TON of them.

So there it is. I just don't know why people wear that crap around. Seriously. It's not stylish. It's not attractive. And if you ever watch What Not To Wear, Stacey and Clinton would tell you to throw that crap away, and get into a great pair of jeans and some pointy heels!!!

i heart quizilla

Your Gay even if this quiz isn't true you might like the same sex...
HASH(0x8b6e458)
Are you gay?

brought to you by Quizilla
This has got to be the goofiest quiz on quizilla. i know kids make these things up - but i LOVED this one! It's so silly!!! Just think. After taking this quiz with only 3 possible answers, you can determine if you're gay. Whew. Good thing i found out. Now i can go to 4th period and make out with the cheerleaders!
funny funny funny!!!

Hawttie Mountain

I want to see Brokeback Mountain. Unfortunately for me, all of my gay crew have already seen it. Guess who went with them? You got it – Josh. So now I have no one to see it with. Boo on me.
I usually go to movies once a week with Kurt. It’s been our tradition for over a year, now. I love seeing movies with Kurt. If they are bad enough, I know I can talk through them and make fun of them with him. It’s great. We usually like the same movies.

Except when I brought up Brokeback Mountain. I didn’t quite get the response I wanted when mentioning it to him:

Let's see... gay cowboys vs. giant city-wrecking gorilla. Hmm...I'm leaning
toward the giant monkey movie
.

See what I mean? I mean, he’s secure in his sexuality, and he LOVED Donnie Darko. So what’s the big deal? Josh said this movie was good, and the critics think it’s great! But if I ask Kurt to see it again? I don’t foresee much difference in his response.

So alas. I will have to see something else. Any suggestions?

The Fowah Yutes.....

Josh's brother, John, drinking some strange bean concoction at the vietnamese restaurant we went to. It was brown with seawead and something that looked like mushrooms. Sweet-tasting, but only good for 1 sip! Yikes!

John's apartment in Chinatown, complete with a Chinese drying rack. Someone sure like bikini briefs, although i'm not sure it's John......

Another sign i saw just hanging up in Chinatown. I loved it!!! i especially like that they wrote below, 'Say it out loud'.

John and my stepsister, Leigh Ann, in front of the 'Dream Come True Fancy' beauty salon in Chinatown. I just love how chinese just doesn't quite translate correctly!

And what Chinatown trip would be complete without a picture of roasted ducks with full intact heads and eyes hanging in the window of a rotisserie!

Ahh.....Good Times.....Good Times......

More to come!

Which served mediterranean food, with all Hispanic workers.

My Step Sister in the bathrooms above the Cafe Bonjour.

They were REALLY ...um...unique!

An interresting sign in ChinaTown.
I thought it was pretty funny.
Yikes!
I guess this is where a lot of the cabbies come from! Not to mention the Asian Bus Gangs Josh's brother told us about!

Parking in ChinaTown.
4 Cars high, people!!!

The Two Yutes....

So i lied about writing a post about NYC last night. I came home, made dinner, and vegged out instead. i leave the longer post (and reading/commenting on everyone's) for tonight when Josh goes to a poker game.

So today, i am periodically going to upload some of the pictures i took in NYC. Unfortunately, one of my rolls of film got messed up, and was unable to be put onto a CD (which just means the crappy lady at the Wegman's grocery store in Allentown, PA didn't know what she was doing!).

Let me just say that NYC was wonderful! I had so much fun!
We arrived in Times Square, went up to Central Park, went back down to Rockefellar Square and Center, Crystler Building, Empire States building (we didn't go up), Public Library, and then took the subway down to China Town, where we hit Little Italy and Soho. We also hooked up with Josh's brother, John, and ate at a vietnamese restaurant.

IT RAWKED.
I also bought a Prada handbag for $20! The guy on the corner seemed legit enough -
Legit enough for me to haggle him down from $30! Wi-Hoo!!!
Okay. 'Nuff said.
On with the slide show!!!

The New York Public Library (i took a lot of panoramic shots on my point and click camera - that's why the black lines are still in the pic! - i'm telling you, that lady didnt' know WHAT she was doing in the photo lab!)

Grand Central Station
It was friggin' cool!

The Chrystler Building

Empire State Building

Isn't my mom beautiful?

Here is my mom at a Christmas party with her hippie friends from high school.

Look how all the men flock to her!!! I used to be sitting on that piano bench you can see in the photo below - until i got pushed out by all the dudes wanting to talk to her!!!

Geez! It's so hard being beautiful!!!!

That guy who wrote a book about my mom was there, too. My mom told me he said, "I was hoping you would be here. You're my muse!"

WOW.

Anyways, I will post about my trip later tonight.....

Best.Fortune.Evar.

I will post all about my trip tonight when i have more time, but while we wait -
This was the fortune i got last night while eating WONDERFUL chinese food with Josh:

If you think nobody cares if you are alive, try missing a couple of car payments
