BEHOLD! My Mother has bought me Fiestaware!

I’m not complaining by any means, but it really says something when you are rapidly approaching 30 and you mom is buying you dishes.
What does it say, you ask?
What the heck have you been eating off of for the last 10 years?
Well, I guess eating off those souvenir state plates isn’t cutting it anymore. My mom feels like its high time I got some REAL dishware. Probably because she thinks I won’t break it all.

But this is a statement about a whole lotta things.
I’ve reached my 5 year point after college. I’ve worked my azz off and where has it gotten me? I’m still eating off of flea market purchases! Not that anything is wrong with the flea market, but this translates into MY LIFE. Is my life a flea market? I know my house sure is! Should I be doing something other than haggling through life?

Ah.

Maybe I’m freaking out due to the upcoming reunion. I feel I need to invent Post-Its or something. I haven’t been anywhere, done anything, or seen anybody (Josh has seen Prince in the airport! I can’t even beat that!).
I’m in a transitional period right now. I don’t know what I want to do. That company I interviewed with in Kansas City in November emailed me and offered me another job. I have a meeting today with someone at CU in the Landscape Architecture department to discuss the masters program. My friend Stacy said since I have a bachelor’s in Horticulture I could get a state job in Hawaii inspecting pineapples! What the heck am I going to do?

My mom told me to weigh out the pros and cons of everything. But honestly I don’t know if that will help. I feel like I need to get my life rolling, and maybe making a rash decision is exactly what I need! It’s like those dishes. Quit eating off of dishware that was meant for a wall, and start eating on something MEANT to be eaten on.

I wrote this LONG reply and it truly sounded too Tony Robbins/Joseph Campbell..so we can wait and talk at some point.

Basically, this is totally normal for the age you are. (caffx is going through something similar right now)

Follow your Bliss

Be honest (the best choice doesn't always make the most money, but will bring you more wealth in the long run)

Is Kansas City a 'safe' choice, is the masters just for the safety of school and the fancy intials, are pineapples calling your name.

Now is a great time in your life...with no dependents... to make a change if you are feeling stifled.

maybe we need a sorting hat, like in Harry Potter

-as far as your reunion is concerned, you have a college degree AND you are working in you chosen field, that alone will put you in the top 25 % of your class, not just now, but likely at your TWENTY year reunion as well.

Everybody always says it's within you, "get out of your own way" blah, blah... which I do agree with to a large degree, but what *are* the other factors you feel like are standing in your way?

C'mon, Simone, let's talk about your big "but"

` Hey, at least you got through college.... my severe ADD prevented me from getting good marks.

` This post reminds me.... Lou and I have so many dishes combined they can't fit in the cupboard - which is fine because whenever he uses a dish he puts it in the sink and slowly, the dishes make a trip to the sink so that they aren't overpopulating the cupboard.

` I think I'll have to start using them as clay pigeons.

Just don't go to your reunion. I think the whole reunion thing is a stupid concept to make people feel unworthy and, at worst, dishonest. Everyone's just going to be there to show off anyway. Who wants to be in an auditorium with a bunch of braggarts? And what are you complaining about? You have more and nicer stuff than I do. Anyhow, This and That is a fount of knowledge. Listen to what she says.

It again comes down to values. What do you value for your life? What a bunch of dumb-dumbs at the reunion tell you to value, or what will make you feel that you've lived your life as fully as possible when it comes time to leave it behind? I chose the latter.

` This is too good: Back to the subject of dishes... did you know I shower with mine?
` Also, I mentioned your Boston Market poem, like I said I would! Check out my new posts!

At least you can weigh your options while eating on fine dinnerware.

But I wouldn't stress about the reunion, but I would watch "Grosse Pointe Blank" to prepare and then possibly lie frequently and often just to make things bearable.
