I just saw Pirates part 3. It sucked my butt. I am so upset at the ending of this movie, that I am currently re-writing the ending and am going to film it later this summer, using stop animation.
What a pile.
I was so excited to see this film, that the last 20 minutes made me hold my breath in order to NOT see what I KNEW they were going to do at the end. Maybe if I held my breath, I would've passed out, and then never have seen the ending.
I also predict the last Harry Potter book is going to blow. Basically they are going to kill Harry Potter as he is most likely going to be a horcrux. So that way no one will write additional books and J.K. Rowling can sit and watch the money roll in while adoring young fans end up hating her.
Blech. I'm disgusted. I'm going to go work on my new screenplay ASAP.

I decided I really didn't want to see Pirates. I thought the second one was pretty crappy compared to the first. I'm sure I'll watch it on video. Did you see Spiderman 3? I heard it kinda sucked too. I do want to see it though just because it has venom in it. The two movies I'm stoked to see this summer are, of course, Potter and Transformers. I've rented a couple of really great movies recently. Children of Men was flat out amazing. It should have won best picture at last year's oscars. Little Children was also very good in an American Beauty kind of way. Pan's Labrynth was okay, not exactly what I was expecting. I liked a twisted little movie called Tideland better. It's very bizarre, sad, gross, and kinda funny.
As for the new Potter book. How can they turn Harry into a horcrux and kill him? By definition, the horcrux contains part of the wizard's soul so that they can be immortal as long as the horcrux exists. For it to work well, Harry would have to survive, maybe paralyzed by a spell for all eternity. That alone would allow the story to continue by means of a "deux ex machina" that somehow frees Harrry. Besides, the story could always be continued with Ron, Hermoine, or Voldemort. Also, wouldn't it be copywright infringement for anyone else to write a Potter book? It would be like someone besides Beverly Cleary writing a Ramona Quimby book. I'm looking forward to reading it, but I'm not standing in line at midnight for it. So far, I think I liked book 5 the best. Can't wait to see how the movie turns out.
since I am probably the lone person you know who didn't get the hype of the first Pirates movie, which everyone seemed to love.....I will pass on spending the $ on the 3rd. I get no solo movie time (in the theater) as it is.
To Jason above, the hubby and I rented 'Little Children' a few weeks ago. That was a good movie, that stayed with me long after it was over. The hubby said the changed the ending from the book a little.
We also rented 'Rocky Balboa' the same weekend and as long as you can get past how distorted and streoided out he looks, it was a good end to the character. But I think it is lost on people who didn't see and like the first three. (The last 2 I pretend do not exist).
Are you coming out this way in August? Caffx made me sit through superman 4 and it was great...in a good/bad way. It was Superman 3 that I couldn't even sit through. That was just a bad/bad movie.
I'm waiting for rocky balboa to show on tv. I liked the first 4....but I was young at the time. It's the same story over and over, so I won't pay to see it.
Pirates was too long by 30 minutes, and while I didn't love the ending I didn't hate it either. At least EVERYTHING didn't turn out perfectly. Small favors.
Overrall, each movie was less fun for me to watch as I was pleasantly surprised by the first one.
But if you're going to see it, it's better to see it on the big screen because it will lose something in translation to your home tv.
personally - i didn't necessarily want a 'perfect' ending to Pirates, but something better than the choppy "let's hurry up and finish" this ending.
boo.
as for Potty - Check out THIS ESSAY on horcruxs and let me know what you think...
I've passed Tideland in the store - so I'll get it and Little Children for sure...
Wow....one, where do you find this stuff? two.....that person did their homework. I overlooked a lot of those references my first time through. I think I'll go back and read the first books again before the last one comes out. The horcrux idea is feasible, if it isn't destroyed when the living body is. Actually, it makes a lot of sense. Anyway, let me know what you think of Tideland. P.S.....it's got "the dude" in it. Can't go wrong there.
` Thanks for the review. I didn't like the first Pirates movie that much, and I didn't see the second. My one friend just got tickets to Pirates 3 for her birthday and is excited. Well, she can share them with someone else.
